Fathom 1.0.0 (October 2026)

• Setup wizard for Windows: double-click Fathom-Setup.vbs and choose where everything goes. A simple "Setup did not finish" page now explains any problem in plain words.
• "Please wait, this takes time": anything slow now says so, shows how long it has taken and an approximate time left. This includes conversions, searches, the Talk button, the assistant's first answer and the setup wizard.
• The free assistant is faster: it runs on your own PC through Ollama with a faster model. Fathom warms it up when it opens, so the first question starts quickly.
• Ollama stays out of your way: it starts by itself, hidden (only a small icon in the system tray), when Fathom opens, and closes when Fathom closes. If it was stopped, the assistant starts it again.
• Voice: the assistant reads answers aloud with your computer's own voice, and the Talk button needs no surprise download (the speech engine is fetched during setup).
• Help folder: double-click scripts to check everything, repair Ollama, scan for leftovers, update from a zip and open the logs. None of them deletes your files.
• Setup fixes: keeping your data in Windows' usual place no longer stops the move step, programs left by an earlier setup move to the folder you choose (the old one is only renamed), and failures show the real reason.
• Uninstall-Fathom.cmd: removes what Fathom installed, wherever you put it. It asks first and never touches your own files.
• Lite edition (about 2-3 GB) and Fathom Online, a no-install page that works right in your browser.
• License: Fathom is open source under AGPL-3.0-or-later.
